Do you have a material thing you just LOVE?
For me, it’s my car.
You might think that’s weird.
Here’s why…
- It’s not the typical car anyone oohs and ahhs over.
- At its core, it’s a Subaru Legacy.
- Plus, it’s old.
- I bought it back in 2018 when it had already been on the road for a decade.
- Today, it has more than 100,000 miles on the odometer.
- It’s nice enough on the outside…frankly, it doesn’t look like much more than a typical sports sedan.
So why do I love it so much?
Because it’s awesome.
See, I’ve always been a car guy.
Word on the street is my first word was “hi.” My second word was “Corvette.”
Fast-forward several decades…
I love driving.
I love going fast.
And especially after my car needed a new engine back in January (since “the last guy didn’t take as good care of it as you did, Zach”)…
…I love hard turns and quick reactions and my head hitting the headrest when I take off from a dead stop.
But, why do I REALLY love my spec.B?
I love my spec.B because of how it makes me feel.
I drive it and I feel true joy.
I feel like a little kid every time I walk up to it.
I grin ear-to-ear every time I turn the key and hear that engine that puts out 300hp and 425 ft-lbs of torque.
(FWIW, that’s about the same as a Porsche Macan S…only at a curb weight about 1000 pounds less. Yeah…It’s quick.)
I giggle every time I floor it from a stop light.
Yeah, my car is my favorite material possession…
…but the reason I love it isn’t the engine or the looks or even the experience of driving it.
It’s the feeling I get from it all.

It’s not the thing.
It’s not the outcome.
It’s not the experience.
It’s the feeling that matters most.
